Love changes the
landscape of the heart. It erases the “I” and leaves only the “you”. This is
what love should do. It should elevate. Efface. Replace the ugliness of the
self, with the beauty of the beloved. The Arabic word for love, muhaba, comes
from the root word which means “to erase”. True love of God transforms the
heart because it erases the “I”. It erases the “I love”, “ I want” and replaces
it with “He loves”, “He wants”. The result is beauty. And a heart set free.
